The origins of the Castle date back to 962 A.C.

Castello di Montignano is a living testament to centuries of history. Its roots trace back to the year 962, when it was granted to Count Arnolfo, a loyal supporter of the Holy Roman Emperor Otto I. The castle has since passed through the hands of several noble families, each leaving its mark on the building's character.

The 16th century brought significant changes as the Atti family became its owners. It was during this time that the castle began to take on its medieval appearance, with imposing stone walls and grand arches. The Matalucci family, who acquired the castle in the 15th century, further enhanced its elegance by transforming it into a noble palace with exquisite gardens and a charming chapel.

Over the centuries, the castle weathered the storms of time, including foreign invasions and the passage of ownership between different families. In 1908, the Alcini family purchased the property, preserving its heritage while breathing new life into it. Today, Castello di Montignano stands as a magnificent example of Umbrian architecture, offering a unique blend of history and modern luxury.
