“Lama di Luna is the house where, in addition to living with Agata and my sons Agostino and Stefano, in addition to harvesting the fruits that nature and our work give us, including cats, dogs, horses, rabbits, geese, ducks, barn owls and sparrows, hospitality is given to all those who wish to share the magical sensations that this corner of Murgia gives us in everyday life, as if they were settlers, satisfied with their day at “Lama di Luna”.
Its name was not born by chance, it was born from the careful research to identify and restore to man his natural cycles of being a human being belonging to mother earth and to the universe, therefore ‘moon blade’ or blade as a valley and moon as a strictly element connected with the earth, with its cycles of sowing and harvesting and life where man is included as a being belonging to the whole. Eighteenth century farmhouse inhabited by settlers and sharecroppers, now restored in three years of meticulous work, with bio-architecture and feng-shui in full respect of the place and its history, immersed in 210 hectares of natural landscape, olive groves, cherry groves, almond groves and vineyards , all organically grown and AIAB-ICEA certified.
The guest rooms, once the settlers’ homes, are large and bright, all equipped with a fireplace, overlooking the internal courtyard and are equipped with hot water and heating supplied by 48 solar panels, electricity created by 400 photovoltaic panels, and wooden beds solid pine and olive wood or brass from the 19th century, with natural latex mattresses, raw cotton sheets and towels, terra cotta sinks, olive oil soaps; every detail has been meticulously studied to let energy circulate and so that in these environments you can feel the flavor of times gone by.In full respect of the original structure and of our great rural building traditions, the farmhouse has been renovated with mortars and natural materials, with the total reuse of the materials already present, ancient tables, bricks, fixtures from the 19th century and other materials such as the red earth itself or yellow. The beds are positioned to the north and the sharp edges give way to round edges, because in nature everything is round, everything is harmony and everything returns to the whole. Its forty smokestacks, its scattered trulli and its cave alone tell the story of the people who lived, worked and rested in this magical place with an infinite panorama.
“La Veranda” restaurant
Our restaurant, reserved for guests who stay overnight in Lama di Luna, is located in the summer on the veranda overlooking the infinite space of the Murgia, filled with orderly vineyards and millions of olive trees, and in the cooler months in the adjacent room where a large fireplace heats the environment. With the vegetables from our garden, the fruit from our trees, the eggs from our chickens and the typical products of our land, our chef prepares traditional Apulian dishes that allow Lama di Luna’s guests to savor true local cuisine.
The swimming pool
With six hundred-year-old olive trees as shady sentinels, our infinite pool overlooks the lush Apulian plain. Immersing themselves in the water of the pool, water and sky unite, and the swallows, punctual guests of Lama di Luna, dive in to drink before a long journey. Reading a book at sunset The silence of the wind from the ground is the setting for a masterpiece, which with different colors every day, remains the most awaited show by all of us.
The Library
Thanks to a collection of over two thousand books, with the oldest dating back to 1500, the Lama di Luna library is the ideal place to sit and read in silence. The beauty of these ancient books, and the scent of their old pages create a particular atmosphere. Time seems to stop. And in winter with the fireplace lit you no longer want to go out, but you just want to stay comfortable in the armchair watching the fire vibrate.
The Cinema
A large multipurpose room of one hundred square meters with audio system and HD projection on a 4×2.2 meter screen, which in addition to being the cinema where Italian arthouse films are screened every evening, is a room adaptable to different occasions. In fact, upon request, the room can be set up for events, business meetings and conventions.
